m-tec powder GmbH - Magnesium Products

Right after starting the operative procedures, m-tec powder GmbH has started the production and trading of high-quality magnesium products.

Within the last three years, m-tec powder GmbH has been able to secure its leading position amongst European suppliers.

Long-term experience, scientific know-how, an extensive product consulting as well as extra ordinary product quality and the central location of our production site in Wesel at the Niederrhein, offer decisive advantages with regard to transportation costs, delivery reliability etc to all our customers in Germany and Europe.

The magnesium products

The portfolio of our magnesium based products includes the whole range of magnesium products in their respective form and purity: standard Mg >99.8% to high purity with Mg >99.95%.

We are producing the following material for you:

  • Chips and granules
  • Pigments and powder
  • Ingots and continuous casting ingots
  • Cut ends and anodes

We produce in every technically possible particle or grain sizes, dimensions and weight units.

Processing of magnesium

Our mainly mechanical methods and machines for grinding and sieving meet modern state of the art technologies. Of course we are also offering tailor-made processing in accordance with your individual requirements or mutually agreed values. These services will depend on the intended application process which might necessitate a passivation or the production of alloys or alloy powders like AlMg, FeSiMg or CaMg.

The magnesium experts

You are engaged in the research and usage of innovative reagents and products for your individual operating procedures? We will be happy to provide our expertise and long-term experience with regard to magnesium in powder metallurgy for testing and usage. We have a broad network of competent partners in universities and industry.

Magnesium products and their applications

The portfolio of the growing number of our customers and clients reflects the range of industrial usage of magnesium products. The chemical industry uses mainly magnesium chips for the manufacture of plant protecting agents and pharmaceuticals. Other applications can be found in pyrotechnics, military or in general for welding and brazing processes. Ultra-fine Magnesium alloys are used in various components and alloys in lightweight construction and also in refractory. We daily see hundreds of new products in the market.

Magnesium powders offer decisive advantaged in modern production processes

Magnesium is a fantastic raw material which has fascinated us from the very beginning. In addition magnesium is available more or less unlimited as it is one of the ten most prominent elements in the earth`s crust. In the meantime, magnesium can be manufactured with a minor CO2 impact. The metal can be fully recycled.

The highly reactive metal is used in the manufacture of reagents, which are essential in modern metal processing. But Magnesium allows for so much more. As an example: The bonding of powder molecules by atomic diffusion process in the shaping production of components by pressure or sintering , will result in components superior to other metals with regard to their characteristics. In particular their weight is a clear benefit.

With a bulk density of in average1.74 g/cm³, Magnesium is a lot lighter than steel (< 70%) or even Aluminium (< 30%). Due to its high specific stability and the mentioned density it is the most favoured raw material in automotive, aviation and aerospace.

Magnesium is a raw material of the future

Whenever we are talking about higher operating distances, higher payloads or reduction of energy consumption, magnesium will always have a key position.

This also includes medical engineering in the production of prostheses, wheel chairs or crutches. But magnesium is also indispensable for the production of any electronic compounds like smartphones. Magnesium has the ability to soften vibrations and is also able to shield electromagnetic radiation to a certain extent.

Furthermore Magnesium has a good heat conductance which is important for the manufacture of machines and engines. For a lot of applications the fact that magnesium as a biocompatible material does not have any incompatible characteristics is also decisive. Magnesium has a considerably higher melting point than aluminium which awards Magnesium with a favourable heat resistance.
